FemmeFan Weekly: Putting Your Game Face On, With No Smudge Mascara Female athletes have a rough road to hoe (oops that's a no-no). The reality is that athletic women have often been looked upon as "odd" or to put it bluntly, as lesbians or dykes.
NHL Insider: 2007-2008 NHL Award FinalistsEach year the Professional Hockey Writers' Association plays homage to the many players that have excelled during the course of the season under the lights with a spectacular awards show in Toronto, Canada.
Speaking of Sports: The Kentucky Derby: For Whom Eight Belles TollOn June 12th, Martin Brodeur, Sidney Crosby, Henrik Lundqvist and a handful of others are once again award finalists. The three mentioned are no strangers to receiving awards. Last year, Brodeur and Crosby were finalists for the Hart Trophy, which Crosby won and Brodeur and Lundqvist were finalists for the Vezina Trophy, which Brodeur went on to win. I am so far removed from the racing scene that I could not tell you a sire or dam of any horse. Not even of the great or near great, thoroughbred or standardbred. I still follow but more from the periphery.
The 19th Hole: A Great Weekend of GolfIt has been more than a generation since we have seen a super horse win all three legs of the Triple Crown and Saturday afternoon we may have witnessed a legitimate threat to that drought in just his fourth race. No Tiger? No Lorena? That sounds like the recipe for an awful weekend of professional golf. It sounds like there would be little reason to check out golf, what, with the NFL Draft on television. (I watched a lot of it. Why did my team, the Green Bay Packers, pick two QBs? Bromm gets hurt too much, and Matt Flynn? Really? I digress.) It turned out, though, that this was a great weekend for the sport.

Thinking Out Loud: Johnny Carson Has Nothing On MeJust call me Carnac the Magnificent.
2008 NFL Draft Team Grades and RecapsThat is the character the late Johnny Carson used on the Tonight Show where he dressed up like a swami, put an envelope to his head and answered the question inside. His sidekick, Ed McMahon, would repeat each and every answer eventually prompting Carson to come up with a pointed quip toward the end of the skit. I have no punch line; however, I did have something to say in my last offering about the tenure of one Pat Riley and a solid reason why he should step down as head coach of the Heat. Complete recaps and grades by every team for the 2008 NFL Draft
Thinking Out Loud: The Wacky World of the Steinbrenner'sAnswer me this? How am I to explain Hank Steinbrenner to my grandchildren?
NFL Draft Round 1 RecapIt's bad enough that I raised a son who became a Yankee fan - it was a Mets' household until I moved to Florida to join BaysBall Nation, and the so-called smart one of the twins went to the dark side (of New York blue) - but what's up with the new mouth of the north? It appears for all all intents and purposes the little Hankie has all of his father's mouth but not the sense of his brother Hal, the Quiet Man, a dozen years his junior. Not one month into the season the team's co-chairman effectively called his new manager an idiot. Who were the big winners and losers in this years first round. Video and analysis on all the first round picks...
